About Make Kids Smile

This initiative is a passion project of Sepi Madani the CEO of SimplyIntel, colleagues, friends, and the team at Stream Commerce (a Shopify Plus Consultancy). Sepi has already raised five thousand dollars, and now the entire Stream Commerce team is getting behind our colleague and supporting Sepi through this meaningful charitable initiative.

Spreading some much needed cheer at the end of a challenging year

Make Kids Smile is a grass-roots, hyper-local Toronto charitable initiative with a goal to raise money, gift wrap and personally deliver holiday gifts to kids, youth, and teens in Toronto.

We are passionate about making the greatest impact and delivering the most smiles this holiday season. One Toy = One Smile is our mantra!

Our way of supporting our local community

Sepi's family landed in Toronto when he was in Grade 3. As a passionate and patriotic Canadian entrepreneur looking to help new immigrant families and under-served families, he demonstrates our trademark Canadian kindness – especially after a very challenging 2020 year.

Sepi enjoyed welcome arms and big smiles when he first arrived in Canada. Something he has always wanted to do since then is to give back and show the same kindness and Canadian generosity that he personally experienced. The giving Canadian spirit that sets us apart in the world is exactly what inspired Sepi to start this initiative - non-denominational and inclusive, regardless of race, colour, background or religion.

Within just a few days of starting this initiative, Sepi personally raised over $5,000 dollars from colleagues, friends and family. Now the Stream Commerce team is getting behind our colleague and supporting Sepi and his friends with this meaningful charitable initiative.

Backed by a passionate team, we are looking to give back in a big way this holiday season.

A little bit can go a long way

Due to the growing health crisis, many refugees, underprivileged kids, youth, and teens in Toronto shelters and under-served local community’s struggle.

Having been left to quarantine in shelters and isolate in their rooms, the social and psychological toll the global health crisis has had on their lives and mental health this year has reached new levels.

Canadian generosity is known on the global level. Our inclusivity and compassion know no bounds regardless of race, religion, colour, or background. This is a phenomenal opportunity to come together and safely support our communities.

Any contribution to the initiative would be much appreciated

We plan to raise as much money and gifts as possible this December.

  • 100% of the proceeds donated will be used to purchase gifts for the holidays
  • We are collecting, accepting and purchasing appropriate gifts and toys for kids, youth and teenagers.
  • All donations of new products are welcome
  • We seek support from local and national retailers and brands to purchase toys, books, and gifts.

Every donation counts — no matter what the size.

We will personally collect, wrap and deliver them to the community

We are working together to have all gifts ready for wrapping by Dec. 18th.

We will arrange with different shelters and refugee sites to stop by and deliver each gift to our community's kids.

Join us in our mission to practice gratitude, kindness, and compassion this holiday season.

PLEASE NOTE:

Make Kids Smile is a grass-roots, hyper-local Toronto charitable initiative.

We are passionate about making the greatest impact and delivering the most smiles this holiday season. Raising money, wrapping gifts and hand delivering holiday gifts to children, youth and teens in Toronto shelters and refugee sites is our mission. We will have all gifts ready for wrapping by Dec 18th and we pre-arrange to stop by and deliver each gift personally.

100% of proceeds (less the Shopify Payments credit card processing fee of ~3%) will be used to purchase gifts for local Toronto youth.

We are not a registered charity so we are not in a position to issue tax receipts - we are working to have that in place for next year.
